Seamark™
On 15th May 2000 Champion acquired from Seamark Systems Limited their anti-fouling subsea identification marker business marketed under the Seamark Markers™ brand.
The Seamark™ markers product line had been the market leader for many years and was only surpassed by Aquasign® in the mid nineties. Seamark Markers™ established a superb global track record and in particular it achieved a greater success in the Middle East and Gulf of Mexico market places than its rivals.
The Seamark™ technology comprised of a 90/10 cupro-nickel alloy glass reinforced polyester composite and had a lifespan comparable to Aquasign®. Its major competitive advantage was that it did not fade in sunlight and therefore did not require to be supplied with protective covers. Of course this was outweighed by concerns on Seamark's™ environmental impact.
The Seamark™ product range was available for many years before declining sales volumes, coupled with the need to replace ageing plant, made its manufacturer no longer commercially viable.
This was not the end of the story however as Champion drew inspiration from the legendary Phoenix incorporating the Seamark™ non fade attributes into our Aquasign® Solis® range.
